Phoenix Children’s Academy Selects AIS Enterprise-Class Data Center to Accommodate Critical Infrastructure Needs

A long history of operation in San Diego, market leader position and excellent facilities identified as primary reasons.

SAN DIEGO, Calif., August 22, 2012 – AIS (American Internet Services), a leading provider of enterprise-class data center, cloud and connectivity services, today announced Phoenix Children’s Academy (PCA), the premier leader in childcare and private education with over 100 schools across the country, has selected AIS to house its critical communications infrastructure. PCA chose AIS because of its proximity to its team in San Diego, its longevity, positive reviews, leadership position in San Diego, and the quality of its Lightwave Data Center.

“We toured many facilities during our evaluation process and the AIS Lightwave Data Center was quite impressive,” said Ed Soto, network administrator at Phoenix Children’s Academy. “And with this being set up as the focal point of our critical communications infrastructure, we really wanted an experienced provider with a solid reputation. AIS hit high marks on all the things that mattered to us.”

Though Phoenix Children’s Academy has three data centers throughout the United States, to fulfill and meet their critical infrastructure needs they decided to focus in the San Diego region where they already have staff in place. After analyzing all of the local San Diego providers, PCA chose the AIS Lightwave Data Center to host their exchange servers, conferencing servers, and fail-over voice over IP needs.

“When PCA approached us with their requirements, we knew we would be able to put together a solution that will handle their IT infrastructure needs today and well into the future,” said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS. “We are delighted that they selected us and look forward to working with them as they grow their business.”

What has helped AIS hit the high marks mentioned by PCA is its commitment to continuous improvements. AIS has undertaken an initiative to continuously improve the infrastructure at its Lightwave and in Phoenix (Van Buren data center) facilities. The company has recently completed an upgrade to the power and cooling infrastructure for its Lightwave datacenter. The expansion increased the facility’s utility service from 3MW up to 12MW with 9MW available immediately. It also added 5MW of generator capacity and 3.7MW of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) capacity.

PCA’s move into the AIS Lightwave data center has already taken place.
