The CyberTECH CyberTini event is the quarterly networking mixer that builds the cyber security, Internet of Things, and big data and analytics community and enables high tech entrepreneurship and economic development in our region. A just completed EDC study confirms by a narrow definition that 1 in 6 high tech jobs in San Diego are cyber security related.

With the support of partners like SDG&E, Securing Our eCity and Cox Business, CyberHive has created our first annual “Good Neighbor Taste of Downtown & CyberTini”. The “Taste of Downtown” will bring together 20+ restaurants to offer small plate tastings from their full restaurant menus, offering a perfect compliment to our signature CyberTini.

The Good Neighbor Taste of Downtown & CyberTini event will raise needed funds for (3) vital community causes aimed to accelerate economic development in our region. Economic development and community revitalization takes the support of multiple stakeholders and in this process we cannot lose sight of those less fortunate and those struggling around us. In our current economic environment this includes our area homeless and under employed, veterans coming out of service and our young people.

Net funds raised from the Good Neighbor event will support the following organizations and programs:

  1. San Diego Rescue Mission, which is CyberHive’s adjacent neighbor at 1st and Fir Street downtown. CyberHive currently has a parking arrangement with the mission and we donate all excess food from our 4-5 monthly events to Mission residents. Additionally, with our partner Manpower, we are developing an IT training and job placement program for graduates of the Mission’s residential recovery program.
  2. CyberHive Veterans Transition Training Program will help our technically oriented men and woman in uniform apply their IT military skills to comparable civilian IT jobs. Our first training program for 15 IT Veterans in partnership with Manpower starts 24 February. The program includes recruitment, transition training and 100% job placement.
  3. e3 Civic High Student Internship Program will provide entry level job opportunities and cyber skills training for young people interested in careers in cyber security and the Internet of Things. We will use funds to create (6) paid Internships for e3 students in 2014.

The event will take place atop the San Diego Rescue Mission garage across the street from CyberHive and over looking our beautiful San Diego Bay and downtown. Live music will be played.
