How Can We Help You?

Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity

Making sure a business and its mission critical systems can handle disruptive events – be it nature-related or a malfunctioning piece of software -- is a huge responsibility that CIOs and IT Department staff know should not be taken lightly. Turning the page on the year now is a great time to move the goal of having a disaster recovery and business continuity game plan, a reality. AIS can help.

As your partner in Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity (DR/BC) planning, AIS will show you how we can create a custom solution which leverages our existing network and high-availability infrastructure along with our engineering expertise, to cost-effectively achieve your business objectives.

The cornerstone of that solution is the AIS DR/BC Toolbox. It consists of five components.

Geographic Diversity

AIS, which operates data centers in the Southern California business hubs of San Diego and Los Angeles, opened a data center in Phoenix Arizona specifically to address the need for DR/BC. Phoenix has the reputation of being one of the safest locations in the nation in terms of protection from natural disasters.

Note: All AIS data centers are SAS 70 Type 2 certified.

Critical Systems Infrastructure

AIS data centers are designed and operated in compliance with specifications of TIA 942 and the Uptime Institute Tier Classification system to ensure “continuous uptime” reliability, availability and productivity for all of our clients. Whether a client requires a tailored solution with simple geographic diversity or a full Tier 7 level of high-availability (HA)/DR with mirrored image implementation, AIS provides the environment that ensures continuous operational support.

Private Optical Network

To maximize performance and security, AIS manages its own private optical network between data centers. Typically we use OC-192 from multiple providers and in some cases incorporate dark fiber links to meet the client’s operational requirements.

›› Path diversity between Southern California and Arizona is via a direct route (San Diego – Phoenix) and a northern route (San Diego – Los Angeles – Las Vegas – Phoenix).

Protected and unprotected private connectivity is provided in increments from 100Mbps to multiple Gigabit Ethernet connections.

HA / BC Infrastructure

AIS employs a number of High-Availability (HA) and Business Continuity technologies to implement client DR/BC objectives. Partnering with F5 Networks, AIS has deployed Local Traffic Managers (LTMs) in every data center. In addition, F5 Network Global Traffic Managers (GTMs) have been deployed in San Diego and Phoenix to provide large-scale service redundancy and business continuity. These building blocks are used in conjunction with inherent network redundancy technologies to meet client recovery / continuity requirements.

Technical Expertise

This may be one of the most important components of all. AIS Engineering and Professional Services staff (“ProServices”) are experts in networking and high-availability infrastructure. They understand that there is no “one size fits all” solution for disaster recovery/business continuity. By leveraging the technical expertise of the AIS team, combined with the AIS DR/BC Methodology, the clients can be confident that the plan that’s developed incorporates the most appropriate technologies for their environment.
